If you want to take the SAT on November 7, 2026, register by October 23. That is the regular registration deadline, and it expires at 11:59 p.m. ET. You can still register late until October 27, but late registration costs an extra fee, so treat October 23 as the real deadline.
Every remaining 2026-27 SAT date and deadline
| Test date | Register by | Late registration and changes close |
|---|
| November 7, 2026 | October 23, 2026 | October 27, 2026 |
| December 5, 2026 | November 20, 2026 | November 24, 2026 |
| March 6, 2027 | February 19, 2027 | February 23, 2027 |
| May 1, 2027 | April 16, 2027 | April 20, 2027 |
| June 5, 2027 | May 21, 2027 | May 25, 2027 |
These dates come from College Board's official SAT dates and deadlines page, checked October 16, 2026. The October 3 administration has already passed, so November 7 is the next date with an open registration window. College Board has also posted anticipated 2027-28 dates beginning August 28, 2027, but labels those as planning dates, not confirmed deadlines.
Which date is actually for you
If you are a senior applying this cycle: November 7 is the next date with an open registration window. December 5 is also still open for registration, but check each college's last accepted test date before counting on it, since late-fall scores can arrive after some application deadlines.
If you are a junior: March 6 or May 1 gives you a first real score with time to retake in June or next fall. If AP exams eat your May, March keeps your spring cleaner.
If you are retaking: space your dates 8 to 12 weeks apart. A retake only helps if you spend the weeks between sittings fixing specific weaknesses, not just hoping for a better day.
Three registration details students miss
- The deadline is 11:59 p.m. ET. If you are in another time zone, convert it. A Pacific-time student who waits until 11 p.m. local has already missed it.
- Borrowing a device changes your deadline. Students who need to borrow a device from College Board must register and request the device at least 30 days before test day, which is earlier than the regular registration deadline.
- Late registration is a backup, not a plan. It is available worldwide, but the extra fee is real money for nothing. Put the regular deadline in your calendar.
Your checklist for this week
- Pick your date from the table above.
- Register on College Board's site before October 23 if you want November 7.
- Request a borrowed device now if you need one.
- Write the late deadline in your calendar as a safety net, not a strategy.
- Start timed practice right away. TaroPrep's free full-length practice tests and adaptive study plans are built for the Digital SAT, so the weeks between now and test day actually move your score.
